Why do Good things happen to Bad people? Do I need to know why

Join us for a four-week survey through the Book of Job against the lens of Harold Kushner’s When Bad Things Happen to a Good Person. Want to know what the class will be like, consider the following:

1. If God is omnipotent (think Superman, and then expand it a gazillion-fold)…

2. If God is completely, 100% good (not 99.9999…%, but totally good)…

3. If Job is a good person. (you’ll have to know a little bit about Job to appreciate this one).

Can all three exist? If not, which one should we eliminate to make the Book work?

We’ll discuss this and other pondering questions over a four-week period (there will be a one-week break in the calendar) and will be offered over the course of two tracks:

Track I: Weekday afternoon: Thursdays January 3, 10, 24 and 31, from 1:30-3:00 pm, at the Synagogue

Track II: Sunday morning: Sundays January 6, 13, 27, and Feb. 3, from 10 am-12 Noonish, at the Rabbi’s Parsonage (25 Weber Farm Road), with a potluck brunch.

Please let Rav Julius know if you are interested and if so, which track you would like to pursue.
