Joint Shabbat Service and Dinner with Beth El

In addition to the information about the February 23 dinner with Beth El Synagogue (at Beth Jacob).  Rav Julius would like you to know that with regard to the prayer service that in addition to student Cantor Anna Chapman, Roz Etra will serve as the pianist and musical director of the evening, and we will be inviting musicians from the New York area and elsewhere to help us make that part of the evening an interesting and fulfilling experience for all of us.  So, even if you can’t stay for the dinner, we hope that you will be joining us for a special, Friday night service. And if you let us know whether you like it….

Second Beth El/Beth Jacob Shabbat Dinner, February 23rd
Join Congregations Beth El and Beth Jacob for our second Musical Shabbat on Friday, February 23, 2018 as we strengthen and revitalize Eastern Connecticut’s Jewish Community. All affiliated and non-affiliated members of the community are encouraged to attend.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. at Beth Jacob with Kabbalat Shabbat including music and singing. Immediately following the service (at approximately 7 p.m.), we will serve a traditional Shabbat dinner, with delicious food prepared by volunteers from both synagogues. A vegan entrée will be available. (We will be happy to accommodate dietary needs, so let us know if you have any special requirements when you RSVP.)
At our event in January, we had a great turn-out, and participants enjoyed a lovely service, a delicious meal, an opportunity to see old friends, and a chance to meet new people. The schmoozing went on for hours, and many lost track of the time because they were enjoying themselves so much!
Come join the fun! No judgment if you only want to come for dinner — we’d love to have you! For even more fun, come help with the cooking on February 22nd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beth Jacob. No cooking skills are necessary (although they are appreciated). It’s tons of fun to cook together, so join us for all or some of the time. You’ll meet new people – and may even learn a new recipe or two.
We hope to defray the cost of the dinner with sponsors, so if you would like to sponsor this event (in part or in full), please contact the Beth Jacob office.
RSVPs are needed by February 18. For more information, to volunteer to cook, or to RSVP for the dinner, please contact the Beth Jacob offices at or call the office at: 860-886-2459
Cost:  $5 per person
